There are reasons that women do the laundry and other household chores. NOT because it's a woman's duty to cook, clean, and do the laundry. If I thought that way, I would join a cult where people agree with me. I have never had the luxury to think this way, even now that I have a bride.
The reason some women do the laundry or clean is because the men are NOT doing it right...In the their eyes at least.
You see, I just can't figure out what clothes of my wife's I am supposed to put into the dryer after they are washed. OK, some things Sarah has told me NEVER are to be dried. Things that are delicate or have under-wire in them. The trouble is that there seems to always be an exception to the rule. In the case of bras, I never dry them.
Delicates? Crap, I don't know what that even means. I am a man who has never owned anything "delicate" much less can identify any.
It is these "grey" areas were I get into trouble. In the case of her shirts (or whatever they are called), I dry some but not others. I am to hang them on the drying rack instead of the tumble dryer. No problem if the items were easy to identify. There are shirts of all colors, some with strings, straps, lace, and of course, they all seem delicate! What about colors? Is it light or dark? Khaki is what again?
I have the simple answer, besides her doing her own laundry...
Just hang out to dry everything she owns?
NOPE, can't do that because some things she likes dried with those dryer sheets that magically take all bad things away.
I do hang up any article in question. Sometimes that means there are things hanging all over the house. I know I am not alone because when I am at other male friends houses I find woman's' clothes hanging about. You might think they are the same types of articles, but no, this woman has her own things she must have hung to dry.
Just like her Dad and all other dads, I will dry something that should not have been dried. She will tell me I am in idiot and ask me why I dried her $200 diamond studded cashmere khaki blouse and made it so small the cat can't wear it.
Since neither of us love to do laundry, I'll probably still be doing her laundry as often as she does mine...
...but risking life and limb every time I make a decision about what to put into the dryer and what to hang up to dry. Wish me luck.
